Solar motorcycle dons a shell of panels

Putting a solar panel on a car isn’t all that tough, as there’s plenty of surface area that the sun hits on a car just waiting for panels. But what about a motorcycle? There’s not much in the way of sun-facing surface area that doesn’t get covered with a crotch when being ridden on a motorcycle. It’s a problem that requires some radical thinking and unorthodox designs to overcome.

Take a gander at this solar motorcycle, overcoming the problem of no surface area by covering the whole bike with a big ol’ shell. The 25 square feet of solar panels on the bike would, in theory, provide enough juice for an exhilarating 13-mile ride at 30MPH.
